State Parks and Recreation Areas
www.parks.wa.gov/ - 14k
Washington State Parks are developed and maintained by the state
and most open year-round, but some close in winter. During the summer, campers
may stay up to ten consecutive days in any one park. Between Oct. 1 and Apr. 30
the maximum length of stay is 20 days. Over 60 state parks take reservations for
camping between March 1 and September 30; during the rest of the year they are
first-come, first-served. Washington's most popular state parks fill up
fast, especially on weekends and holidays. These include: Lake Chelan, Twenty-Five
Mile Creek, Steamboat Rock, Deception Pass, Lake Wenatchee,
Sun Lakes, Birch Bay, Potholes, Chief Timothy, Fort
Canby, Battleground, Moran, Saltwater, Fort Worden,
and others on the Olympic Peninsula and Pacific ocean beaches. Reservations for
that period may be made 11 months in advance by contacting Reservations
Northwest year-round. 800-452-5687, TDD 800-858-9659. Phones operate M-F,
8am-5pm, with extended hours in summer.
Mount Rainier, an active volcano of over 14,000 feet, is
encased in over 35 square miles of snow and ice. The park contains outstanding
examples of old growth forests and sub alpine meadows. Whether hiking on its
flanks, climbing its summit, snow shoeing or cross-country skiing on its slopes,
camping along its glacier-fed rivers, photographing wildflower displays in sub alpine
meadows, or just admiring the view, nearly two million people come to enjoy the
grandeur and beauty of Mount Rainier each year. Click on Mount

Olympic National Park encompasses three distinctly
different ecosystems—rugged glacier capped mountains, over 60 miles of wild
Pacific coast and magnificent stands of old-growth and temperate rain forest.
Olympic is also known for its biological diversity. Isolated for eons by glacial
ice, the waters of Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the Olympic
Peninsula has developed its own distinct array of plants and animals. Eight
kinds of plants and five kinds of animals are found on the peninsula and live
nowhere else in the world. Click on Olympic

| Pelindaba Lavender is a premier grower of
lavender plants, distiller of lavender essential oils and handcrafter of
lavender-based products. On our beautiful farm on San Juan Island, we
undertake these activities in accordance with the highest environmental and
aesthetic standards. We cultivate all our flowers in our own organically
certified fields and extract the essential oils from these flowers in our
own on-site distillery. From these flowers and essential oils, we handcraft
on-site a wide range of botanical, culinary, personal care, therapeutic,
household & pet care products. This vertically integrated model of
sustainable agriculture enables us to preserve the farmland from further
development, protect it from pollution, create employment opportunities for
our fellow islanders and provide a destination of natural beauty for
islanders and visitors alike. We believe that these endeavors, pursued with
integrity and passion, will provide ample satisfaction in both human and
economic terms, and will do full justice to our name... Pelindaba,
