Dining Suggestions
El Paso, Lubbock and Midland
Cattle Baron Steak & Seafood Restaurant
I have eaten here and can attest to the fact that the steaks are great. This is
not the original restaurant, as the first one was in Portales, New Mexico. Jeff
Wilson, President of Cattle Baron Restaurants, Inc. established the first Cattle
Baron Steak & Seafood Restaurant in 1976 where it stands today in Portales,
New Mexico. Over the years, Cattle Baron has expanded throughout New Mexico and
West Texas. When in El Paso, be sure to stop in for a steak or their delicious
prime rib. In fact, if I am every in any of the other cities of Texas or New
Mexico, you can bet I will give them a try there also. Their other restaurants
are located in Lubbock
at 8201 Quaker and Midland
at 418 W. Wadley in Texas; and in Hobbs
(1930 N. Grimes), Las
Cruces (790 S. Telshor), Portales
(1600 S. Ave. D), Roswell
(1113 N. Main) and Ruidoso
(657 Sudderth) in New Mexico. Jim. Click on El
Paso to visit their website. Jim
Van Horn
Chuy's Restaurant
I had the opportunity to have lunch at Chuy's when Pat and I were driving
from Atlanta to our new home in Rio Rico, Arizona. The food was great, and I'm
sure glad we stopped by. The following information was taken from their website.
"Chuy's Restaurant started in February 1959 as a two room Drive-In
establishment with a canopy for 2 cars. It had no dining area inside, only
window service. When we started out, we only sold hamburgers and soft drinks. At
that time we were supported by the local teenagers. Parents soon followed their
kids and a family-oriented atmosphere boosted our success." Visit their
website at www.chuysrestaurant.com
for the rest of the story. One of the more interesting things about Chuy's is
the story about how John Madden came to eat there one day and enjoyed the food.
He even wrote about it and told America about his meal there on his television
show. It seems he stopped there on a Monday to watch Monday Night Football. He
had a good time, enjoyed the food, and told Chuy Uranga and his wife Mary Lou
that he would be back, and he has been -- several times. If you are ever in the
area, do as John Madden (and I did), stop in and enjoy some great Mexican food.
The restaurant is located right on the main street, and you can't miss it. Jim
