I have also stayed at some of their Vacation Club properties and have enjoyed each visit. AAA members can get discount rates at Marriott, as can Seniors. The Appalachian Trail - From Maine's Katahdin to Georgia's Springer Mountain, the Appalachian Trail winds through the scenic, wooded, pastoral, wild, and culturally resonant lands of the Appalachian Mountains.  The trail is a public footpath across 2,159 miles of Appalachian Mountain ridgelines. Roads that cross it for all but its northernmost 100 miles give ready access.

Elliston Place Soda Shop - Located at 2111 Elliston Place, the small restaurant has been in operation since 1939, making it the oldest restaurant continuously operating in Nashville. The menu includes daily "meat-and-three" specials with an appealing selection of comfort foods such as fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I love the greens there! They also offer a variety of burgers and sandwiches. The burgers are tasty and go well with a malt or shake. Be sure to stop in at Elder's Bookstore just down the street while you are in the area.

Elder's Bookstore, located at 2115 Elliston Place (Church Street at 22nd Avenue across from the Baptist hospital), is an interesting interlude where you can search for old books, magazines, maps, posters and other collectables. The owner, Randy Elder, will be happy do a book search to help you find old and out of print books for you or do an appraisal.
