City and Destination Information
Virginia City was once one of those typical boisterous western towns. At the peak of its glory, there was gold in every hill and millions of dollars were being made. Men came from everywhere to find their fortunes. As you walk the historic streets of Virginia City, it seems the spirits of these Comstock characters still inhabit the places they built in the shadow of Sun Mountain.  For a while, Mark Twain was a reporter for the Territorial Enterprise and it is believed that is how his writing career began. Virginia City continues to be a place for families to visit where they can enjoy their passion for history, imagination and truly unforgettable fun. Although it was the mining boom that  turned Virginia City into the most important settlement between Denver and San Francisco, today it is a solid base of locals that continue the history by providing a great place to get away from it all on vacation. Here you can see the past presented , preserved and reflected in Virginia City Attractions.
