Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat
The 2.5 million gallon Dolphin Habitat is home to a family of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. Its purpose is to provide a healthy and nurturing environment for dolphins, as well as to educate the public about marine mammals and their environment – including their role in the ecosystem. An exotic, enchanting and wondrous world full of adventure lies before you. The rare and exquisite animals enjoy relaxing in their tropical environment, painstakingly modeled after their natural habitats.

Four connected pools, an artificial coral reef system and sandy bottom replicate the dolphins' natural environment. Most of the dolphins were born here; the remaining few were relocated from other facilities. The Dolphin Habitat is both an educational and research facility. We host educational programs for students from kindergarten through university age. Guided tours for the public are conducted throughout the day. Guests see the dolphins in a naturalistic environment, exhibiting natural behaviors. Research is conducted under the guidance of the dolphin care specialists.

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat is available for after-hour events.

White Tigers
Enter this tropical atmosphere, surrounded by palm trees and lush foliage, and a different world that is exotic, enchanting and full of adventure lies before you. The exquisite animals enjoy relaxing in their environment, which was modeled after their natural habitats. The open-air home of Siegfried & Roy's Royal White Tigers is available for public viewing throughout the day and evening. Siegfried & Roy have dedicated their lives to preserving these rare animals, and their efforts have helped save them from total extinction.
A perfectly matched pair of these beautiful animals were bequeathed to this country in 1958 by the Maharaja of Rewa. In turn, Siegfried & Roy were able to secure two offspring, establishing their own Royal White Tiger breeding line. Unlike conventional tigers, which have black and gold markings, the white tiger is white with black stripes, pink paws and ice-blue eyes. The purest of these animals are snow white and have no stripes.

White Tigers

The White Tiger Habitat contains many features designed to enhance the comfort of the animals and provide spectacular viewing for guests. The open-air environment features a swimming pool with fountains and simulated mountain terrain for the tigers' enjoyment and the public's entertainment. The facility's white setting gives the animals a sense of security by allowing them to blend into the background, and special slanted glass affords better viewing, eliminates glare and helps control the temperature. The Royal White Tigers are rotated continuously in and out of the facility throughout the day. When not appearing in the Habitat, they enjoy their own spacious living environment and can be seen in the lush tropical environment of Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat.

The Volcano
At the top of each hour, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight, the earth shakes while flames shoot into the night sky. Smoke and fire spray 100 feet above the waters below, transforming a tranquil waterfall into spectacular streams of molten lava. The volcano at The Mirage has been a Las Vegas signature attraction since the resort opened in 1989, mesmerizing spectators with its thunderous display. The volcano, situated on three water-covered acres, is 54 feet high and circulates 119,000 gallons of water per minute. The show is free to the public, but may be cancelled during times of high winds or inclement weather.

Aquarium
One of our most popular attractions is the aquarium located behind the front desk. Spanning the length of our front desk, you’ll be mesmerized by this slice of coral reef life. This 20,000-gallon saltwater aquarium is home to angelfish, puffer fish, tangs and other exotic sea creatures. Managed by The Mirage's own in-house aquarists, the aquarium accommodates more than 1,000 coral reef animals representing 60 species from Australia, Hawaii, Tonga, Fiji, the Red Sea, the Marshall Islands, the Sea of Cortez and the Caribbean. These sea animals were all selected for their adaptability to the environment and compatibility with other species. One of the most elaborate and technically advanced aquariums in the world, the tank is 53 feet long, eight feet from top to bottom, and six feet from front to back. The acrylic used in the aquarium is 4 inches thick. The interior was carefully created to simulate an intricately detailed, artificial coral reef. To preserve the living reefs in the ocean, no live coral is used in the tank.

Tropical Rainforest
Inside our front entrance, you'll enjoy an extraordinary experience – a lush and verdant indoor rainforest housed under a 100-foot-high dome. Palm trees reach 60 feet above cascading waterfalls. Lagoons meander through a forest of rich tropical flora including bird of paradise trees, orchids and bromeliads. Woven into this waterscape is an artist's palette of beautifully colored, delicately arranged tropical flowers basking in natural sunlight. Water mists the area lightly throughout the day to enhance the atmosphere and keep the plants cool. Four full-time gardeners spend over 160 hours each week to maintain the more than 100 different types of plants in the atrium. Over 300 fresh orchids and 1000 bromeliads grace the walkways.
