Destination Information
The Town of Wolfeboro was settled in
1768 and is known as the oldest summer resort in the United States. Governor
John Wentworth, built a mansion here making this the first summer
resort in America. You can enjoy a variety of year-round events and activities
all surrounded by beautiful scenery. And, although thought of as primarily a
summer resort area, you'll be tempted to visit in any season. For additional
information, contact the Chamber of Commerce (http://wolfeboroonline.com)

| The Wolfeboro
Inn - Built in 1812 by the Rodgers family, The Wolfeboro Inn was a
private residence for about 75 years when it became the Copper Kettle
providing food and lodging to travelers. A three-story addition was added to
the original building in 1987. The inn is filled with traditional New
England decor with handmade quilts and antique furniture. As you enter
the inn you are greeted by a lobby fireplace that provides warmth and a
feeling of hospitality in this country inn that is filled with the style and
amenities of a full service resort. Guests may choose between modern suites
with balconies from which they can look out over the lake in the new
building , or relax in the old-world charm of the beautifully restored and
expanded rooms of the old Inn. The Inn's
forty-four guest rooms are individually decorated and distinctively
different. They range from rooms in the old inn, built in 1812, to modern,
elegant, country-style rooms and spacious suites. In addition to standard
amenities, all have air conditioning, wireless internet and cable TV. Some
have refrigerators and private decks with views of Wolfeboro Bay. For
additional information or reservations, contact Jim at Getting Away.

Restaurants
and Dining Suggestions
East of Suez - For over 30 years
this family restaurant has been serving exotic cuisine from across Asia and the
South Pacific. All of their dishes are prepared to order with fresh, local
produce, specialty condiments and internationally imported ingredients. Although
the menu is small, it is filled with time-honored favorites locals have grown to
love over the years.
| The Music Garden - This
interesting little tea room and gift shoppe is located right on Main Street
at the docks. It is located in the same building as Jo Green's Restaurant.
One of the more interesting aspects of the tea shoppe is that you can choose
your own special bone china cup and then sit down and relax with a cup of
tea and some scones. Be sure to join them for full tea at 4 p.m. where you
can listen to live harp music as a part of your relaxing afternoon. Linda
Griffin, the proprietress and harpist, has long been a friend of mine. She
is an excellent harpist and I know you will enjoy her music, as well as
getting acquainted with Linda. Be sure to visit the gift shoppe before you
leave where you will find a selection of antiques, bath and body products,
and "tea related" items such as teapots, clotted cream, jams, biscuits,
cheese straws and several assorted teas. Open Wednesday through Friday from
noon to 4 p.m., and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
(open only to full afternoon tea patrons from 1:30 to 3:00). For additional
information,, phone 603.569.1889. |
