Atlanta
There are so many good restaurants in Atlanta that it would be impossible to list all of the ones I enjoy so, I will just list a few that I find either a bit different (and therefore worth a visit) or just darn good - in my opinion, anyway.

Landmark Diner - I like the Landmark Diner on Roswell Road. They have a great menu with everything from soup and sandwiches to complete dinners. Open 24 hours. 404.816.9090.

Carrollton
The Lazy Donkey - I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. They have great Mexican (and Spanish) food and the best salsa and chips around, including any in Atlanta. Although I do not drink, my friends tell me that they have some of the best margaritas you'll ever find. A little more expensive than all of the "regular" places, but well worth it and well worth the drive over to Carrollton if you are passing by on I-20. 334 Bankhead Highway, 770.834.6002.

Columbus
Mary's New York Cafe - For a light lunch, or just a cup of coffee and a bagel, I enjoy Mary's New York Cafe on Broadway. 706.653.3003.

Decatur
Athens Pizza -
This is one of my favorite restaurants in this area. Athens Pizza has been here since 1966 when John and Asiemoula Papadopoulos opened their first restaurant. Everything then was homemade and good and, everything remains the same today - homemade and good. Be sure to try one of their pizzas or any of their authentic Greek dishes. Athens Pizza is located at 1341 Clairmont Road in Decatur, GA 30033. Phone: 404.636.1100. Fx: 404.315.8824. You can visit their website at: www.athenspizzaatlanta.com.

Evans Fine Foods - This is one of those restaurants that is as far away from being a chain restaurant, as McDonald's is as being a chain. This is a one-of-a-kind place that has just what the name states, fine foods and plenty of it. They have a nice menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a daily special menu that often includes as many as well over a dozen choices. What ever you order, it will probably be well made and taste good. And, it will always be served by a staff that is one of the most friendly you will find anywhere. Be sure to leave room for a slice of homemade pie or cobbler. I highly recommend this restaurant. Jim. Evans Fine Foods, 2125 North Decatur Road (at the corner of Claremont Road in the Emory commons shopping center), 404.634.6294.

Mexico City Gourmet - I have found the food to be quite good here. Give it a try. Located at 2134 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, GA  30033. 404.634.1128

Douglasville
Hudson's Barbecue - I love BBQ and fortunately for me, one of the best barbecue restaurants around is right here in my home town. Hudson's Barbecue has been around here almost longer than dirt. The food is great and the servings are plentiful. What more could you ask for? If you are ever in my town, give me a call and I will tell you how to find Hudson's.

Duluth
J.R.'s Log House Restaurant - Great place for breakfast, as well as some good BBQ! This place has been around since the early 1980s
specializing in pit-cooked pork, beef, ribs and chicken. They barbecue their meats over an open pit filled with burning hickory logs. Their Brunswick stew is pretty good also. But for me, I still like their country breakfasts which are served with giant biscuits and a nice little blueberry muffin. 10270 Medlock Bridge Rd., Duluth, GA 30136, phone: 770-476-1766. fax: 770-476-5627. They also have a restaurant in Norcross. 6601 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Norcross, GA 30092. Phone: 770-449-6426, fax: 770-449-6429

Kennesaw
Caper's on Main Street
is not the easiest restaurant to find, but it is well worth the search. Located on Main Street just south of Kennesaw (right where Main begins to curve before crossing the tracks, and where Main joins Summers) is a nice little place with some very good food. I find the food here to well prepared and very easy on the palate. Although the main part of the restaurant only has about a half dozen tables, they have plenty of dining space outside on the deck. The next time you are in Kennesaw, and need a great place to dine, be sure to take the time to look them up. Capers on Main Street, 2756 South Main Street, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Phone: 678.594.7735..

LaFayette
Susie's Sunset Cafe - This little restaurant is located right on the square. They are open Monday through Friday from 7 am to 8 pm serving "A Taste of Country" and doing a pretty good job of it. It is your typical southern meat and three vegetables. I would not go so far as stating that the food is great, but it is good and filling. If you are in LaFayette around meal time, give Susie's a try. 116 West LaFayette Square, LaFayette, GA  30725. 706.638.0268.

McCaysville - "Family Style" dining with good food, fresh vegetables and homemade desserts at Pat's Country Kitchen, Highway 5, 706.492.5477. I always plan my drives in this area to be there around meal time.

Macon
The Blue Plate restaurant has over 30 years of experience putting together some great homemade quality southern foods with a wide selection that includes homemade cornbread, cheese biscuits and homemade desserts. Of course, along with their extensive menu, they offer a daily blue plate special. Have a great meal, but remember to leave some room for dessert. They feature a selection of made-from-scratch desserts that include fresh apple pie, chocolate and coconut pies, banana pudding. Blue Plate, 2323 Ingleside Avenue, Macon, GA 31204. Phone: 478.745.1671.

Norcross
J.R.'s Log House Restaurant - Great place for breakfast, as well as some good BBQ! This place has been around since the early 1980s
specializing in pit-cooked pork, beef, ribs and chicken. They barbecue their meats over an open pit filled with burning hickory logs. Their Brunswick stew is pretty good also. But for me, I still like their country breakfasts which are served with giant biscuits and a nice little blueberry muffin.  6601 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Norcross, GA 30092. Phone: 770-449-6426, fax: 770-449-6429. They also have a restaurant in Duluth.

Rome
Harvest Moon Cafe - I enjoy stopping here for lunch as they have a nice sandwich menu. Deli to gourmet items homemade daily, including breads and desserts. Both indoor and outdoor dining. Open for lunch Monday through Saturday and for dinner Wednesday through Saturday. Located right on main street at 234 Broad Street. 706.292.0099.

Stone Mountain
The Village Corner - I love German food and have found The village Corner Bakery, Tavern and German Restaurant to be a pretty good place to find it. It is located close to Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountain Village at 6655 Memorial Drive. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. 770.498.0329, email: cafriese@aol.com. Web sites: www.germanrestaurant.com and www.germanbakery.com.

How do you get out of paying full price for your meal at a restaurant without having to scrub dishes? Simple, just buy Restaurant.com Dining Certificates. Locate a restaurant close to where you are at Restaurant.com

Miss Katie's Sideboard
As stated on their website, "Southerners weren't the first folks to fry chicken but we sure are the best!" And, it is pretty good, especially when accompanied with some of their redskin mashed potatoes and a choice of vegetables or other side item. This is one of those places that is a "fun" place to eat. The kids will love having their rolls "Hand Tossed" by their server. The rolls are always good and they keep them coming - or is it flying? They have an extensive menu for both big folks and little ones. When you are visiting Stone Mountain Park, be sure to stop by Miss. Katie's in Stone Mountain Village for lunch or dinner.
