Shoemaker's Shop

In 1850, most shoes were custom-made. This was the shop where the townspeople of Lumpkin would visit when they needed new shoes. It was built in 1838 and was restored and given to Westville by Mr. and Mrs. Sam Singer.

Just past the Shoemaker's Shop you can see the Singer House. Johan singer's apprentices lived in the upstairs of the shop. The downstairs was used as a workshop and display area.

Much of the original glass remains in the double pane windows. The Shoemaker's Shop is one of three buildings on Forsyth Street that were build by the Singer Family. They were all built in the town of Lumpkin and moved here from their original locations in town
