Moved to Westville from Damascus Georgia, this Methodist church is typical of the churches you would have attended in the 1850s.

As you can see by the two pictures below, the pews were not the most comfortable in the world, and the furnishings were very simple.

 

 

One day a man who did paintings stopped by the church and asked if he could decorate the church a bit with some of his painting. He painted some interesting designs on the walls and these wonderful ceilings, giving this old country church a bit of uptown dignity.

The church is one of the last memories you will have of Westville as you leave the Randle-Morton Store to walk back to your car and reenter the world of today.
