City and Destination Information The following information comes from the website for the city of Kennesaw. Additional information can be found on their website at http://www.kennesaw.ga.us.
The history of Kennesaw dates back to the 1830s when the
Georgia Legislature authorized the construction of a rail line through Cobb
County. Known as the Western and Atlantic Railroad, 20 miles of track was in
operation from Terminus (Atlanta) to Cartersville by 1846. Several small
towns were founded along the railroad including Vinings, Smyrna, Acworth and
Big Shanty. If you have something you believe should be added to this section of Getting Away, please contact Jim at Getting Away. mailto:jimbruner@gettingaway.com

mailto:jimbruner@gettingaway.com Restaurant and Dining Suggestions Caper's on Main Street is not the easiest restaurant to find, but it is well worth the search. Located on Main Street just south of Kennesaw (right where Main begins to curve before crossing the tracks, and where Main joins Summers) is a nice little place with some very good food. I find the food here to well prepared and very easy on the palate. Although the main part of the restaurant only has about a half dozen tables, they have plenty of dining space outside on the deck. The next time you are in Kennesaw, and need a great place to dine, be sure to take the time to look them up. Capers on Main Street, 2756 South Main Street, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Phone: 678.594.7735.
