Driving into the Washington, DC area can be quite an experience. The
Washington, DC metro area is encircled by the Capital Beltway, which is formed
by Interstates I-95 and I-495. Interstate I-66 leads from Washington to West
Virginia. Interstate I-50 heads east to Annapolis, MD, the Chesapeake Bay and
surrounding beaches. Interstate I-95, if followed beyond the beltway, leads
north to Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York. Interstate I-270 heads north to
Frederick, MD and beyond.

Bus and Coach
You will also find many ways to get there by bus or coach. Check
http://www.washington.org.
and click on "Getting Around" for additional information and
links.
Taxi Information
Getting around by taxi is sometimes one of the best ways as it is pretty hard to
find parking places in Washington. You may opt to leave your car at the
hotel and take a taxi. Check
http://www.washington.org.
and click on "Getting Around" for additional information and
links.
METRO
This is another great way to get around. However, as there are not a lot
of stops, you may have to do some walking. However, with a map and a
little work you can figure out the system.
Rental Car Information
You can also use that same link (http://www.washington.org.)
for rental car information. One of my favorites is Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Of course, all of the major rental car companies are also located at the
airports.

Tour Companies
There are dozens of tour companies in Washington. Check

and click on "Getting Around" for additional information and
links. The various companies offer tours by coach, mini-bus, and private vehicles and limos.
One of my favorites is Old Town Trolley Tours where you can just sit
and enjoy a 2-hour narrated tour. They leave every 30 minutes.
Although you can get on and off the trolley when you like and reboard, I suggest
you take the entire tour first, take notes of places you want to return to, and
then begin the tour all over again with free re-boarding from 19 sites around the city. Best conductors in the city. Pick up from area
