Incorporated in 1959, Half Moon Bay offers a wide
variety of public and private attractions. The City rests on the Pacific Coast
between forested hills and some of the most beautiful coastlines that California
has to offer. It is located approximately 28 miles south of San Francisco and
lies within the westernmost portion of San Mateo County.
The historic downtown is home to numerous shops, art galleries, restaurants, bed
and breakfasts, and other businesses. Local beaches and parks can be accessed by
pedestrians, bikes and equestrians. Golf can be enjoyed at two of California's
finest courses. The City and coastside are home to numerous nurseries and farms.
The Pumpkin Festival held in October draws hundreds of thousands of people to
the coast to enjoy its panoramic vistas, fine cuisine, arts, crafts and genuine
hospitality.
Temperatures are mild and the valleys are rich. Half Moon Bay and the coastside
are proud of their floriculture center where roadside stands sell locally grown
artichokes, greens, root vegetables, beans and herbs. You cannot top the fresh
seafood available everywhere in restaurants or to take home and prepare

Coastal Repertory theatre
Coastal Repertory Theatre (formerly This Side of the Hill Players) was founded
in 1986 to bring quality theatrical entertainment to the Coast side. Occupying
our current theatre in the Mel Mello Center for the Performing Arts since 1993,
Coastal Rep has delighted audiences with a wide variety of theatrical
experiences from comedies and dramas to musicals, melodramas, farces and talent
shows. Located at the end of Main Street, we are just minutes from downtown Half
Moon Bay, a popular entertainment community for visitors. We encourage our
neighbors from "over the hill" to spend a weekend in one of Half Moon Bay's fine
hotels or Bed and Breakfast Inns and "take in a show". The theatre is located at

Restaurant and Dining Suggestions
Half Moon Bay Brewing Company - The Half Moon Bay Brewing Company is an oceanfront restaurant and brewpub located at the edge of the Pacific Ocean in. This is not one of those slick, chain-type micro brewery restaurants, but a real brewery with a hometown feel and some of the finest brews you can find anywhere. Their resident brew master, Alec Ross, has been perfecting his craft since 1973. But it is not just the fine beer that brings folks from all over to this seaside restaurant, it is the wonderful food that is served daily for lunch and dinner. This is one of those out-of-the-way places where you get the finest in food and drink just as you would in any major city of the world, but you can enjoy it in a relaxed atmosphere while dining at your window table and looking out over the sea. In the evening, while you are enjoying your dinner, you can listen to the musical entertainment that is provided Tuesday through Sunday evenings.
