Tubac has a variety of locally owned restaurants. I have eaten in all of them and each one has a personality and menu that is distinctively their own. One of my favorites is the Tubac Country Inn. I really enjoy the ribs there. I also enjoy having lunch at Shelby's Bistro. And, on a lot of early afternoons, you can find me enjoying a coffee and reading my latest novel selection at The Chili Pepper. Most are open for both lunch and dinner, but you can also get breakfast at the Tubac Deli and Coffee Company. What follows is some additional information and links to some of the restaurants.

The Artist's Palate
The Artist's Palate, located just south of the main village at 40 Avenida Goya, is open daily for lunch and dinner. They have a varied menu that is in keeping with the 'Artists Community' of Tubac. You begin with 'Canvas Stretchers' (appetizers), and end with 'Finishing Touches' (dessert). Along the way you can enjoy Landscapes (salads), Masterpieces (main courses), 'Multi-Media' (pastas and pizza), a few 'touch-ups', (side dishes), or simply enjoy 'The Classics' (sandwiches) along with your favorite beverages. They also have a children's menu for kids 12 and under. Just a few of the items I know are good there would include their soup, onion rings, salads, salmon and steaks, and much more. Open daily for lunch from 11:30 to 3:00, and then from 5:00 to 9:00 for dinner. The Artist's Palate is closed on Mondays. 40 Avenida Goya, Tubac, AZ  85646, 520.398.3333.

The Chili Pepper
The Chili Pepper is favorite of visitors and locals alike for good coffee selections and ice cream. I enjoy stopping by for a coffee or ice cream and sit and read my current novel while enjoying a break in my day. Click on
The Chili Pepper for additional information.

De Anza Restaurante & Cantina
This interesting little place is about a block off of the main area of the town. They have a nice menu, and is an especially nice place to sit out on the patio and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Located at 14 Camino Otero in the Tubac Historic Zone. 520.398.0300. I highly recommend this place, Jim.

Shelby's Bistro
Enjoy a nice lunch as you dine outside overlooking the small wash that cuts through the town. You not only enjoy a very nice lunch, but look over Tubac to the mountains. There is also inside seating if you prefer. In the evening, come back again for a wonderful selection of entrees served with a nice selection of wine. The restaurant is located in the Mercado de Baca. Shelby's Bistro, 19 Tubac Road. 520.398.8075. Click on Shelby's Bistro for additional information and pictures.

Stables Restaurant
Dine by firelight within the adobe walls of the original Otero Ranch stables. Rock floors, hand-hewn beams combine for a special and intimate dining experience. The Stables is located just north of the old town on the access road. A great place for an enjoyable lunch or romantic dinner. During lunch, you sit outside and enjoy your meal while watching the golfers finish their round on the interesting 18th hole, which is surrounded by water. The restaurant is also open 7 days a week serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Attire is casual. The restaurant is located at the Tubac Golf Resort, One Otero Road, 520.2211.

Tubac Deli and Coffee Company
Located just to your left in the plaza as you enter the village of Tubac is the Tubac Deli and Coffee Company. There are a couple of reasons why I like this place, with the first one being that they serve Boar's Head meats, and the other being one of the few places close to my home in Rio Rico where I can get a hot pastrami sandwich. Other sandwiches include a good Reuben and a club sandwich. They also serve other sandwiches including a BBQ pork, tuna and chicken salad, a BLT and an Italian Stacker that is filled with ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone and mozzarella cheeses and condiments. They also serve soups and salads along with their special blends of coffee (including lattes, cappuccino, espresso and more), and soft drinks. Don't leave without checking out their selection of bakery items. You can eat them here or take them home. The also have recently added pizza to their menu. Inside and outside dining and take out. 6 Plaza Road, 520.398.3330. HOURS DAILY 6:30 am - 8 pm   Pizza from 4 pm - 8pm. Free WiFi is available. For additional information, including the menu, click on Tubac Deli and Coffee Company or click on their website. http://tubacdeli.com
