The entrance to Boot Hill is through a souvenir shop. There is no admission charge, but a donation is suggested.

Boot Hill has been preserved as a national historic area.

As you can see, all of the graves are covered with rocks. The ground here is like concrete.
I know as I live in Arizona and have to use a pick to plant anything in my yard.
The graves were quite probably pretty shallow,
and then covered with dirt and rocks to keep out the animals of the desert.

The pictures below pretty much speak for themselves.

All of these men were hanged on the same day, and then taken to Boot Hill for burial.
They were buried in a row and covered with rocks.

Above are the graves of Billy Clanton and Frank and Tom McLaury. They were all killed in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral in 1881.
 Just on the left edge of the picture is the grave of Newman Hayes

 

Just a short walk downhill from the cemetery is the Jewish cemetery and memorial.
