City and Destination Information
I have long liked the city of Anniston. In fact, I have even traveled there for a relaxing weekend to enjoy the area. There are several places of interest in Anniston and you can find out more about them by visiting the chamber at www.calhounchamber.com.
One of my favorite destinations there is the Anniston Museum of Natural History where you can see one of the nation's oldest diorama bird collections, walk through the African savannah, marvel at Egyptian mummies and explore a man-made Alabama cave. The kids will love visiting. the museum is located just north of downtown Anniston on the main highway. It is open Tuesday - Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday -Sunday 1 p.m.- 5 p.m., plus Summer Mondays. (256) 237-6766

If you plan to spend the night, I would suggest the beautiful
Victoria. The Victoria
has long been a favorite overnight location in this northeastern Alabama
city. The Victoria dates from the 1880s and is filled with all of the
charm and grace you would expect from a Southern Victorian. It is
conveniently located between Atlanta and Birmingham only 90 miles from
Atlanta, and 60 miles from Birmingham. This is a great place for a
weekend getaway and a favorite of mine. For additional information, or to make reservations, just contact Jim. mailto:jimbruner@gettingaway.com |
