The Victoria |
Your travel source with a personal touch! |
The Victoria bills itself as having, "Luxurious accommodations, elegant dining and well organized business gatherings allow you to experience our total mastery of the art of hospitality." I would have to agree. This is one place you will return to again and again. The mission statement of the Victoria states that the purpose of The Victoria is, "...to provide a uniquely hospitable atmosphere where excellence and consistency of service, cleanliness and quality reflect the pride of our staff." And, this they do, and do very well.
Along with the main house, which has three upstairs guest rooms that have been fully renovated and features period antiques (some original to the house), there is a hotel (another part of the renovation) and a guest house. To read about the creation of The Victoria, Click Here.
| I just love the look of the main house. It is filled with wonderful antique furniture, wall hangings, and fireplaces with beautifully carved mantels. There is also a piano lounge and a glass-enclosed veranda where guests can sit and relax and enjoy cocktails and entertainment or, for me, a cup of coffee and a good book. |

At the back of the main building and wrapping around the courtyard is the hotel, a newer addition to the property. Here you will find the swimming pool an a small gazebo in which you can relax. The styling of the hotel complements the original building which is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Each guest room is individually decorated and rates range from the mid-$60s with suites beginning about $120 and going to a little over $200. |
Every year The Victoria has a great evening out for anyone who enjoys a good time - Murder at The Victoria. My wife and I were fortunate enough to be there this October to take part in The Port Royal Pirate Mystery. Next October there will be another great mystery night (with another interesting theme) and you can make reservations now to be part of the fun. Click on the Port Royal Pirate Mystery for all the fun-filled facts about this year's mystery weekend and information for the next Mystery Weekend at The Victoria..
The Guest House has been converted into a one-bedroom suite which features a nice whirlpool bath, a wet bar and an opening to a private patio and on to the pool. This makes a great retreat for a honeymoon cottage or anniversary celebration.
Dinner is served nightly in the dining room Monday through Saturday. The extensive menu includes seafood, beef, pork and poultry served all served with fresh local produce.
Within walking distance are other restaurants along with some interesting shopping opportunities. You will also find museums, Talladega Motor Speedway, the Talladega National Forest, and Weiss and Logan Martin lakes only a short drive away.
