Holland, or The Netherlands, is filled with some wonderful
cities, towns, and villages. I have visited many and have found each to
have it's particular charm and flavor. For up-close profiles of many of these cities, just click on
the name. If you cannot find your favorite, be sure to send me some
information and I will make a page for it. mailto:jimbruner@gettingaway.com

Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a city of museums and the recent reopening of the Rembrandt House gives you an excellent opportunity to see a great exhibition of more than 100 prints and drawings by Rembrandt and other 16th and 17th century masters, including Raphael, Durer, Holbein, and Rubens. You will also have the opportunity to see the original Cabinet of Rembrandt with the objects d'art and curiosities of his "treasures" to include stuffed animals, statues, porcelain, coins, shells, and weapons.

Volendam
Even though it tends to be a bit touristy, I still enjoy
this small fishing village. Go to Volendam for more
information and pictures of this quaint little seaside fishing village.
Hotel Spaander
Located on the shores of the picturesque Lake IJssel along the top of the
renowned Volendam Dike, is the wonderful Hotel Spaander. The building is truly
classical with a tastefully historical ambiance and contemporary comfort.
Throughout the building are over 1,000 thousand 19th century paintings, many of
which may be used by long ago patrons as payment for their room or meal. The
functional rooms offer a great location for overnight stays with some looking
out over the lake. There is also a fine restaurant in the hotel. For additional information about this hotel, or to make a
