This Old Dutch-style restaurant is
one you quite probably will have to ask someone for in order to find it.
Situated in the heart of Amsterdam, the inside of the restaurant is filled with
dining nooks and crannies that bring to mind an old wine cellar. The menu is
typically Dutch and everything is reasonably priced. My suggestion would be to
try one of the fresh fish selections on the menu, such as lobster bisque for a
starter, and fried filets of flounder as your main dish. But whatever you order,
be sure to top off your meal with a nice piece of hot apple pie with cinnamon
ice cream. The restaurant is located at Rokin 95. Call ahead for
directions at 020-624 28 25.

I love Holland and visit there as often as possible. If you have never visited there - you should. However, before you go you should take the time to familiarize yourself with the country
so you will be able to get around and see all you would like to see. The Netherlands
Board of Tourism (212-370-7360) can provide you with some excellent
travel and tourism information along with a lot of good destination information.

Amsterdam is a city of museums and the recent reopening of the Rembrandt House gives you an excellent opportunity to see a great exhibition of more than 100 points, prints, and drawings by Rembrandt and other 16th and 17th century masters, including Raphael, Durer, Holbein, and Rubens. You will also have the opportunity to see the original Cabinet of Rembrandt with the objects d'art and curiosities of his "treasures" to include stuffed animals, statues, porcelain, coins, shells, and weapons.
Rembrandt lived and worked in this house from 1639 until 1658. The house has been restored to its mid-17th century style and has been furnished with 17th century furniture, utensils, and works of art. The Rembrandt House is located at Jodenbreestraat 4 in Amsterdam, tel. 011.31.20.5200400. It is open daily from 10 to 5 and the admission is Dfl. 17.50, or about $9.
