The train is the most popular mode of transportation within Germany with Deutsche Bahn or German Rail (German Rail and Train Information) offering excellent service throughout Germany. If you plan to use the train extensively while in Germany you may want to look into purchasing a German Railpass. Germany is also one of 17 countries in which you can use Eurailpass (Eurail Passes). If your train travel will be somewhat limited you may want to look into purchasing a Europass which will give you a limited number of use days.

Germany has good intercity and local bus service, a large number of which are operated by the railways (Bahnbus, and are merged with rail services making it very easy to make connections. For intercity buses contact Deutsche Touring (069/79030). You can get detailed bus information and schedules at all rail stations and airports and most big city tourist offices.
