It is said that Disney used this wonderful castle as a model for his Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland. For a great picture of Neuschwanstein you will want to walk around the right side of the castle and up the path to the beautiful Marienbrucke, or Mary's Bridge, that crosses a deep, narrow gorge and take a picture from the bridge. Don't limit your visit to just seeing the castle. The shopping street of Reichenstrasse is great. Find something for a picnic lunch and eat on the grass alongside of the Forggensee.

Restaurants and Dining

There are some good restaurants here including the Alpen-Schlossle, where you can have some wonderful wild duck at times, and the little Gasthaus zum Schwanen for some good local fare. The Konig Ludwig in Schloss is a great place to overnight and also serves good food.
