Getting Around in Austria
Public transportation is excellent in Austria. Most cities have streetcar
and bus networks. Vienna has an great underground system as well.
Rail travel between Austria's Imperial Cities is frequent and comfortable and is
a great way to see the countryside. If you plan to drive while in Austria, you should be aware that you will need
an International Driver's License (along with your regular driver's license) to
operate a motor vehicle there. Contact your local auto club or insurance
agent for additional information.

And, here is a great book for Cheap Eats in Prague, Vienna, and Budapest
Some of My Favorites in Austria
Accommodations:
Vienna
The Parkhotel Schonbrunn, a wonderful place to stay. When I am sitting in the lobby I fully expect to look up and see Bogart walking across the room. This is a classic old hotel that used to be the "Emperor's Guesthouse." It is located close to the subway, has a good restaurant, and best of all, is right outside of the back gate to Schonbrunn Castle - perfect for early morning walks in the gardens of the castle. I highly recommend this hotel!

Dining:
Vienna
I love pastries and hardly anywhere are they any better than in Vienna at Kurkonditorei Oberlaa on Neuer Markt. This is also a nice place for a light lunch in the summer.
Things To See And Do:
Vienna
I suppose it is just a little bit "touristy" of me, but I really like to visit
Prater Amusement Park (especially in the early evening) in Vienna. And, of
course, while I am there I have to take a ride on the "Giant Wheel" that is located there. If you get on the right car you may be able to find my initials!

Cellular Abroad
offers an intelligent alternative to traditional worldwide cellular
communication. Unlike conventional international cell phone options, such as
renting a phone at the airport, or paying expensive roaming rates through your
current cell phone provider,
Cellular Abroad
allows you to take advantage of the local cell phone rates in the
country or countries to where you will be traveling with outgoing call rates
that are just fractions of a dollar per minute – even for international calls
back to the US. Plus, in nearly every country, you get unlimited, FREE
incoming calls to your cell regardless of their origin. Traditionally,
international cell phone communication has been a luxury affordable only to a
few. But with
Cellular Abroad,
you now can enjoy the security and convenience of traveling internationally
with a cell phone. And, having a cellular phone for your overseas trip is not
only a convenience and an important safety instrument, it can also be a money
saver. To see how this would in the country of your destination, go to
Cellular Abroad
and click on the
country of your choice. Even if the country to which you will be traveling is
not listed, since the cell phone standard is the same in 190 countries, you
can get an idea of how the quality will be in the country to which you will be
traveling. Visit
Cellular Abroad
at www.cellularabroad.com for all
of the details.
