more. Scotland - England's neighbor to the north is Scotland, one of the most popular destinations in Great Britain with Edinburgh being one of the most popular city destinations. It is one of the most beautiful little countries you will find anywhere. These pages will help you get the most out of your travel dollar (pound?). Northern Ireland - This is a vacation destination too often overlooked by tourists because of the violence that has been associated with this area for so many years. However, with some of the new accords signed by the British Government and Northern Ireland, perhaps this will change. I hope so as Northern Ireland contains some of the most beautiful scenery in the British Isles. The Channel Islands - Actually located closer to the Continent (France) than England, the Channel Islands are an important part of the UK and a favorite holiday destination for many. The Republic of Ireland - Yes, I know. Ireland is a completely independent state and not a part of the UK. I have placed a link to it here only to help those who still mistakenly believe that Ireland is a part of the UK. |

Just a quick note: For ease of navigation of users that are unfamiliar with the countries of Great Britain, Ireland and the channel islands are included in this list also. In fact, Northern Ireland is a member of the United Kingdom, while the Republic of Ireland (or Southern Ireland) is a completely independent state. I want to point this out, not only because I know the Irish are proud of their independence and proud to be Irish, but also because it is a sensitive issue generally, and particularly with the ongoing peace issue in the North. The Channel Islands are dependencies of the crown with their own systems of government. I trust that the wonderful people and citizens of both the Republic of Ireland and the Channel Islands will understand that I do know the difference, being a citizen of America, another country that won independence a couple of years ago, and will not think too badly of me. I just want others around the world, who do not know, to be able to find information about your beautiful lands. Thanks, Jim.
