Currency
Exchange - Get your currency needs managed in advance! Many airports,
railroad stations, bus depots, and other points of entry have no currency
exchange. When currency exchange is available in airports, lines can be long and
rates can be "sky high". These long waits and usurious fees can be a
nightmare. Order in advance from All
Foreign Currency right online. It's fast, easy, and you save time and
money! The can also provide you with Travelers' checks, bank drafts, and
transfers. U.S. dollars are not accepted everywhere and rates can be atrocious!

Getting Around in
Sweden
Traveling within Sweden is quite easy as
their rail network is efficient and extensive. Comfortable, modern trains
are designed to deal with all kinds of weather.
Flying is an efficient option thanks to the well-developed
system of regional airports around the country.
Sweden's many lakes, islands and canals are linked by an
extensive network of canal boats, vintage steamers, and ferries - large and
small.
For information on air, rail, sea and lake connections and
timetables, please contact Travellink.
Motorways and roads are relatively free of traffic (by
international standards), and are well maintained. Sometimes the only traffic
you will have to look out for is the occasional deer or elk crossing the road!

Suggestions for Accommodations in
Sweden
Sweden has a wide variety of accommodation to suit all tastes and
budgets. Anyone dreaming about a little red cottage by a lake, or a camping
holiday will find unlimited choice. You'll find plenty of excellent hotels in
all price categories, or if you prefer to stay in a more modest guesthouse
you'll once again be impressed by the range of choices. Many visitors are
attracted by the charm of manor-house hotels or stately homes. Others prefer
youth hostels. Youth hostels can take any shape or form, from an elegant country
house to a former prison or even a renovated sailing ship. Big city or mountain
village, stately castle or cottage, room service or sleeping bag - the choice is
yours. Visit the Getting
Away Accommodations pages for more information.

Suggestions for Dining in
Sweden
Sweden has gained an international
reputation for its culinary excellence. The emphasis is on high-quality natural
ingredients - notably fresh, pickled and smoked seafood and game meats, such as
elk and reindeer. The famous Swedish smörgåsbord is rather less common
these days, but most hotels offer a smörgåsbord-style breakfast. You
will also find a wide variety of ethnic restaurants because of today's
multicultural society.
Typical meal prices range between SEK
300-500 for a three-course meal with wine in a medium-priced restaurant. "Dagens
rätt" (or the dish of the day) represents real value for money and is
available in most restaurants around lunchtime (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.). A
Dagens rätt costs round SEK 50 for main course, bread and butter, salad, soft
drink/beer and coffee.
Wines, spirits and strong beers are sold only through the
state-owned Systembolaget, with branches all over the country. The Systembolaget
is known for its incredible range of wines. Light beer can be bought at normal
grocery shops and supermarkets. The minimum age for buying alcoholic beverages
is 20 at the Systembolaget and 18 at pubs and bars. The main alcoholic beverage
consumed in pubs and bars is a lager/pilsner type beer, and comes in several
strengths.
