Nuccia Factory Store

Your travel source with a personal touch!

When you visit Assisi, be sure to take the time for a visit to this great outlet for ceramics. You will probably need to ask for directions, but the Following information should give you enough to go on when looking for the place. Via degli Ippocastani , 13-15 06083 Bastia Umbra (PG) - Italy. Tel.(0039) 075 8012536 - Fax: (0039) 075 8005263. E-mail:onlymadeinitaly@Virgilio.it And, if you are unable to get to Italy, you can always visit their website where you can make purchases on line. http://www.onlymadeinitaly.com

Just to help you find the place after you get directions on how to get there, here is a picture of the front of the building. There is an entrance at the front, as well as an entrance to the factory portion of the store at the back. Also, if you cannot find a place to park in front, additional parking is located at the rear of the building.

Many of the items for sale in the shop are manufactured on site. Ask if you can tour the factory area to see just how the items are made.

Before anything can be made, the clay first has to be cut into size for the object being made. It then goes to the craftsmen who prepare and shape the object before putting it into the ovens. After the item is ready, it is then given a protective coating before going on to the artisans. All of the items manufactured here are placed into storage until they are ready to be finished and then either shipped all around the world to their Internet customers, or placed in shops.

After watching the manufacturing process, it is into the large showroom where you can purchase not only the items made here, but many other things such as local wines and food items.

Once you are inside of the showroom, grab a basket and begin to fill it with some of the great ceramics they make here, taste some of the local wines and put a bottle or two in your basket. Do a bit more shopping for those special items for yourself and the folks back home, and then go to the checkout where you can either take your purchases with you, or have them carefully packed and shipped home. Before you leave you will want to be sure to use the facilities and perhaps get a snack to take with you.
