Getting To Greece

If you are traveling to Greece from North America, you will probably arrive by air.  However, this is not the only way to visit Greece.

By Air
By Sea
By Rail

By Air...
For most people, flying into Athens's Ellinikon Airport is the may way to arrive in Greece. Olympic Airways international and domestic flights use the West Terminal and all other international carriers use the East Terminal. Olympic Airways (1.800.223.1226) is the national flag carrier for Greece. Other major American airlines that fly into Ellinikon include Delta (1.800.241.4141), Northwest (1.800.225.2525), and United (1.800.241.6522). You can also fly into Athens from the United States on Air France (1.800.237.2747), Alitalia (1.800.223.5730), Austrian Airlines (1.800.843.0002), British Airways (1.800.247.9297), Finnair (1.800.950.5000), Iberia Airlines (1.800.772.4642), KLM (1.800.777.5553), LOT Polish Airlines (212.869.1074), Lufthansa (1.800.645.3880), Sabena (1.800.955.2000), Swissair (1.800.221.4750), TAP Air Portugal (1.800.221.7370), and Virgin (1.800.862.8621) all of which also fly from their home hubs and several other locations throughout Europe in Ellinikon Airport. By Rail...
Although you can get to Greece by rail, I would rather suggest you arrive by ferry. You can take rail to the port in Italy and take the ferry from there. However, it is possible to take the train overland into Greece. But, you will have to travel quite a ways through Munich, Salzburg, Ljubluana, and Zagreb and it will take you at least three days to do it that way.
