Cities and
Towns In Bali
Batubulan
Batubulan is located just outside of Denpasar on the road to Ubud. It is a small village
that is noted for the stone
statues that line the roadside. Terrible fanged demons, noble
warriors, and animals of all shapes and size and at all stages of completion
seem to have come to
rest under the shady trees that line the roadside.

Candidasa
Best known for its beautiful and peaceful white sandy beach, this is a favorite
for tourists and locals alike. Visitors will find ample accommodations, along
with some good Candidasa
Dinning and interesting shopping. The city is also rich with nightlife and entertainment.
Candidasa is also the place where you can get a ferry to the Island Lombok.

Denpasar
Covering over 125,42 square kilometers of land with an
elevation ranging from 12 to 75 meters above sea level, this area includes 3 kecamatan;
the Kecamatan of East Denpasar, South Denpasar, and West Denpasar.
Although you might find this town to be
relatively busy, especially its crisscrossing traffic, the atmosphere in this
town remains pleasant because of the relaxed Bali influence. The average
temperature in this town is 28 degrees Celsius, the humidity varies between 60
and 97. This is a great place for all styles of Indonesian and Chinese food so,
enjoy as you will find that the prices are very reasonable. Many good restaurants are found on JI. Teuku Umar,
JI. Sumatra and on JI. Veteran, near the Satria bird market. Be sure to also check out the
night markets and food centers.
Denpasar Books and Other Items!
Kintamani
Kintamani is a great place for a day trip of trekking or simply for getting away
from it all. At Penelokan you can view the panorama of Mount
Batur that is located in a huge volcanic crater basin. If you have the time, be
sure to stop here on the way to Singaraja to
climb to peaceful Pura Tegeh Kuripan. Try to arrive at Kintamani in the morning,
as it's often overcast in the afternoon.

Klungkung
This is the smallest Regency. Lying east of Gianyar, it covers only about 120 square kilometers
that include three islands; Nusa Penida , Lembongan and Ceningan. Despite its size, its influence
on Balinese culture has been powerful as it was here, at the shadow of the holy
Volcano Agung, that the princes and priests of Majapahit gathered in 1343 to
continue the kingdom by setting up " Kraton " in Samprangan. Just a
few generations later, they moved to Gelgel and then to Klungkung in 1710.
During the
16th century, the gods smiled on Gelgel, when Dalem Baturenggong reached an
impressive political and cultural achievement that was considered to be the
Golden Age.
Klungkung Books and Other Items! Kuta
The white sands of Kuta are what attract the tourists. This might just arguably
be the best beachfront on Bali. Although the vendors can sometimes be quite
annoying, it is still worth the visit just to relax on the beautiful beach.
Although Kuta was once a fishing village, it is now a booming
Pacific resort. During the peak tourist season you will find its streets are clogged with tourists and traffic. Legian is a bit quieter, less crowded, and more suitable for longer
stays, although in many ways it has become an extension of Kuta. Further north,
Seminyak, Petitenget and Canggu offer a lot more tranquility.
Nusa
Dua
The draw here are the magnificent white sandy beaches.
Nusa Dua offers visitors several
5 star hotels. Book early if you plan to visit.

Nusa Lembongan
This small island is one of the most a popular destinations for day trippers
from Bali. Nusa Lembongan is located about one (sometimes two hours
depending on whether you sail or motor boat) from the Badung Strait. One of the main attractions of the
island is diving and snorkeling, with amazing corals and tropical colorful
fishes, crystal clear water and white sandy beaches. Lembongan's large
neighboring island, Nusa Penida has a somewhat more ominous reputation and less
popular.

Sanur
Sanur began its popularity over 30 years ago when Bali's first luxury beach hotel was built
here. Since then, it has
been the spot for luxurious seaside accommodations. Conveniently located
near Denpasar on the main road leading to the east, Sanur is not nearly as
frenetic as Kuta, nor as well-mannered as Nusa Dua. Many foreigners have built
lavish villas and bungalows here and this is the preferred place for up-market.
Long-term stays on the island, especially in the BatuJimbar and Belanjong areas,
can sometimes be found using local rental agents. The main attraction here is the
white sand beach bordering a reef-sheltered lagoon. The beach stretches south
from the Grand Bali Beach Hotel and ends up in the mangrove marshes opposite Serangan Island. Due to the protection of the lagoon, this beach is one of the
safest on the island, and thus perfect for families. There is no surf apart from
out on the reef, and one cannot swim at low tide, but at other times this is the
best place in Bali for windsurfing and sailing.

Jimbaran
Located on the isthmus south of Ngurah Rai airport and a continuation of the
white sands of Kuta Beach, Jimbaran bay is one of Bali's most recently developed
resort area. Tranquil compared to Kuta, it retains much of its fishing village
charm. With its shallow water and lack of sharp corals, Jimbaran is ideal for
families. The area also remains free from aggressive vendors. Located on the

Tranquil compared to Kuta, it retains much of its fishing village charm. With
its shallow water and lack of sharp corals, Jimbaran is ideal for families. The
area also remains free from aggressive vendors. There is a range of small shops
and the village market has plenty of color. Apotik Darma, near the market, has
pharmacy essentials, as does Swastika Drugstore on JI. Uluwatu. Jatis Art Shop
has paintings and the Art Shop next to Avis has a variety of souvenirs. Both are
on JI. Uluwatu.

On the Eastern coastline, sheltered by the coral reef, the waves here are much
gentler than other areas of Bali. Sanur is a multitude of contrasts. As in the
