Antarctica is just about as far away from everything as you would like to be. And, although when we think on Antarctica we normally think about something we have seen on the Discovery Channel, it is actually a place that is beginning to become quite popular with a certain traveling set. You can even take a cruise to Antarctica now. Here is some information to help you plan a very exotic vacation in a land that is seldom visited by tourists. Voyage to the Bottom of the World - Antarctica is Earth’s southern most continent, overlying the South Pole. It is situated in the southern hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle, and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean. It is the fifth-largest continent in area after Asia, Africa, North America and South America. Suggestions for Dining in Antarctica If you need medical care while you are away, it is best to be aware that medical providers may not accept payment through your insurance company and that you will therefore to pay in full for your treatment and file a claim with your insurance company for reimbursement. Therefore you should have access to cash, either from a credit card or by wire transfer. If you need assistance contact the country's local embassy or representative. For compensation, you must be treated by licensed medical personnel and provide your insurance company with proper documentation and receipts. It is advisable to always ensure you have a comprehensive travel insurance policy which covers you for repatriation to your home country.
