Tips for the First Timer
I suggest you don't try to book a long, or extensive cruise for
your first time cruise. If you don't like it, a 12 day cruise will seem like an
eternity. And, once you are on the ship - you are on the ship! Also, there is
the chance of see sickness. Therefore, I recommend a nice 3 or 4 day cruise as a
taster for travelers new to cruises. Then, if you enjoy it, you have an excuse
to have another (longer) cruise if you do find you love it! And, when you book,
be sure to tell the booking agent that it is your first time for a cruise and,
if you like it, you will quite probably cruise again. Many cruise lines offer
discounts for first-time cruisers - also it needn't be your first cruise per se,
just the first with their company.
American Canadian Caribbean
Line
|
Year-round cruises from the northern waters of
Labrador and Newfoundland, to the southerly tropics of the Caribbean and Central
America on small (100-passenger) ships uniquely designed to reach bodies of
water and land that bigger ships can't. Cruises all take place in a cozy,
informal atmosphere, that encourages you to meet new people and make new
friends.
With many itineraries to choose from each
year, passengers keep coming back to repeat the ACCL experience. Our ships
are purposefully simple, comfortable with an informal atmosphere evident in
our BYOB policy and relaxed dress code. Our itineraries are specially
tailored to the active, inquisitive and eco-conscious audience. We choose
our crew, chefs, lecturers and land tours carefully to provide a top-notch
vacation. Often we offer local guides and entertainment to ensure an
authentic experience of the regions we befriend.

Azamara Cruises
| Azamara is the new, deluxe cruise experience for
discerning travelers who long to reach out-of-the-ordinary destinations and
indulge in amenities and service unparalleled on the high seas.
The unique offerings of Azamara are beyond compare: butler service is
provided in every stateroom; our shore excursions (we prefer to call them
shore immersions), are designed to let guests become part of the fabric of
life in each destination, instead of merely being an observer; our
enrichment programs offer everything from culinary to photographic
explorations; our two specialty restaurants provide the finest cuisine at
sea; live entertainment can be enjoyed nightly; and the level of service
offered is unmatched.
Azamara Cruises consists of two intimate ships, Azamara Journey and
Azamara Quest. Each can carry 694 fortunate guests and because they are
smaller and sleeker than larger cruise ships, they can sail to ports that
others simply cannot reach. |

Cruise West
| When
you are on a Cruise West cruise, the focus is on what's happening outside
-- not on the casinos and stage shows so many other cruise lines focus on.
You'll simply see more of everything. Bald eagles, bears, wildlife. Cruising
Alaska, the Columbia & Snake Rivers, the tiny port towns along British
Columbia's coast, and California's Wine Country in unique new ways. Unforgettable natural beauty and an intriguing sense of history
reveal themselves in-depth and up-close on the small-ship voyages of Cruise
West. These are not typical vacations. These are journeys of discovery that take
you into places you've only imagined, introduce you to people you'll always

Crystal Cruises
| Crystal Cruises
offers Itineraries are worldwide. Cruises are offered from 7 days to world
cruises. Group rates are available on many departures. There's so much to do on a Crystal cruise. Go shopping, see a
movie, spend some quiet time in the library. Here, you can find everything
you need to know about shipboard life, including information about medical
services, laundry & valet and much more.
With one of
its highest scores ever, Crystal Cruises has once again been voted the "Best
Large-Ship Cruise Line" by the readers of the prestigious Condé Nast
Traveler magazine (U.S.). Crystal's overall score of 94.1, the highest
for any cruise line, was more than five points ahead of its nearest
competitor in both the large and small ship categories. The luxury line's 14
"wins" is unprecedented by any cruise line or hotel in the world.
At 68,000 tons and capable of serving 1,080 guests, Crystal
Serenity (seen at the right) is our largest ship. However, like her sister
ship, she maintains one of the highest space-per-guest ratios at sea, so
you'll never feel crowded. Featuring many of the same popular public spaces
and amenities as Crystal Symphony, Crystal Serenity serves up innovation in
the form of new dining venues like Tastes, Silk Road and The Sushi Bar.
Further attesting to the consistency of its luxury travel
experience, within the past year, Crystal has been voted the 2007 "World's
Best Large-Ship Cruise Line" by the Readers of Travel + Leisure
(U.S.), the 2007 "Favourite Large-Ship Cruise Line" and "Most
Environmentally Friendly" by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller
(UK) and the 2007 "Best Cruise Line Spa" by the readers of Condé Nast

Cunard Line
| Cunard
Line continues a tradition of luxury cruising that began in 1840. Today its
flagship, Queen Elizabeth 2, is the world¹s most famous ship and the greatest
liner of her time. She maintains the legacy of her Cunard and White Star Line
predecessors in providing a definitive annual World Cruise and the only
scheduled transatlantic liner service. QE2 very much sets the standard of
traditional British elegance, superb White Star Service, gourmet cuisine and
sumptuous accommodations that have secured Cunard¹s reputation. In 2000, QE2 is
joined by another classic liner, Caronia, formerly known as Vistafjord, which
also delivers an elegant, Old World cruising experience. Whether on voyages or
cruises, these two Cunard Line vessels create a new golden age of ocean liner
travel, for those who missed the first.

unique ambience where our renowned White Star Service will continue to
surpass expectations. So, take your place in history and be among the first

Delta Queen Steamboat Company
(Majestic America Line)
|
With her red stern wheel churning
the mighty Mississippi and her flag flying high in the balmy blue sky, the
legendary Delta Queen is the quintessential American river ship. In profile
and in spirit, she captures a time when thousands of steamboats plied the
country’s inland waterways. More than 3,000 of them came and went from the
wharf at St. Louis each year!
Built in 1926, gleaming with four decks of teak and
original Tiffany-style stained-glass windows, the Delta Queen accommodates
just 176 guests, all in outside staterooms. Unique touches abound, including
a rare ironwood floor gracing the Orleans Room, the heart of the ship's
nightlife, and an 1897 steam calliope that was once salvaged from a sunken
showboat and sold to a circus. You'll even find the very same ship's bell
that sounded out landings for the steamboat Mark Twain rode downriver in
1883. Come listen to the clang of that historic bell announcing your own
shore landings. Dance on the floor Presidents Hoover, Truman, and Carter
have graced. Grab a cup of coffee in the Forward Cabin Lounge and watch the
sun burn off the mist over the Mississippi. Take your place in history,
today.

Norwegian Cruise
Line - Freestyle Cruising
|
 |
You keep seeing Freestyle Cruising and you don't know exactly what it
is, right? That's because we're the only cruise line that offers anything
like it. Let's start with the fact that there are no fixed dining times. And
you never have to eat in the same restaurant twice. Really. We won't ask you
to sit with strangers like on other cruise lines. And, you only have to
dress up if you want to. We've created that kind of freedom throughout the
ship with a ton of fun things to do, or not do. It's NCL's Freestyle
Cruising. Where you're free to whatever.
Freestyle
Dining -
No other cruise line offers 13 different restaurants on board a
single ship. Heck, no other cruise line even comes close. Steak,
sushi, Teppanyaki, tapas, French, Mediterranean, Asian Fusion,
Italian, Tex-Mex, buffets, pizza. Your choices are endless
Dine where you want - With up to 13 restaurants, you'll find what you're in the mood for.
We apologize for the "What do you feel like for dinner?"
conversation ahead of time. If you just can't decide, there's also
24-hour room service.
Dine when you want - Our restaurants are open for dinner from 5:30pm to midnight with
seating until 10:00pm. Do your thing and catch dinner when you're
hungry, not when the dinner bell rings. It's totally up to you.
Dine with whomever you want - Not everyone wants to eat dinner with people they don't know. We say
you're welcome to enjoy dinner with the people you came on vacation
with. Or, if you'd like to meet new people, we'll gladly seat you
with other cruisers. The choice is yours.
|
|
It's your first anniversary.
It's a
vacation with your best friends. Or a big family reunion. Well,
it's all good because we've created the most flexible staterooms
and suites on the high seas. Huge 3-bedroom rooftop Garden Villas.
Cozy Inside Staterooms. Expandable Family Suites. And everything
in between.
Freestyle Activities - Looking for fun? On board, you can
go bowling or to the spa. Try out the bungee trampoline or yoga.
Karaoke or kick-boxing. Or go swimming, spinning, shopping or
jogging. Off the ship, try our hiking, biking, diving, snorkeling,
surfing, golfing, touring and partying Shore Excursions.
Freestyle Attire - One of you wants a little glamour
and you-know-who wants to wear khakis. Can this relationship be
saved? No problem. Thanks to our policy of, well, no formal
policy, you can be elegant one night and casual the next. It's
called resort casual and it's a lot more comfortable than wearing
a tuxedo.
Freestyle Disembarkation - With traditional cruising, getting off the ship
can be a lot of "hurry up and wait." Not with NCL. We thought that
maybe sleeping in and having a quiet breakfast or a quick workout
might be a better alternative. So we say, relax any way you like,
until it's really time to go.
|
|
 |
NCL sets sail to over 140 ports of call on four continents. Yes ... if it's
on the map, we probably sail there. You'll find cruises to the Caribbean,
Alaska, Europe, South America and of course our specialties – Bermuda and
Hawaii. With over 60 itineraries to choose from, it's easy to find a cruise
that's right for you. And with departure cities from Seattle to New York City
and lots of convenient ports in between, an NCL cruise vacation is closer than
you think. So, what are you waiting for? Choose your favorite destination and
let's go! |
On NCL, you can choose from 14 beautiful ships including our newest
additions, Norwegian Gem
and Norwegian Pearl. What makes our ships so unique?
Freestyle Cruising of course! Our ships
offer as many as 13 places to eat and
lots of cool spots to play and be entertained. You choose
where and when you
dine and how you'll fill your days and nights. Speaking of choice, we've got
more balconies, more suites and our amazing Garden
and Courtyard Villas. All this means you
can pretty much customize your
cruise exactly how you want it to be. Ready to go? Let's go find
a ship for you! |

Norwegian Gem
When it comes to Freestyle Cruising, something new is
definitely a good thing. Introducing Norwegian Gem. This brand new ship
offers all the things you love about NCL - all the restaurants, the bars and
lounges, plus the complete disregard for watches and alarm clocks. It's the
latest in the Jewel class family of ships, sister ship to Norwegian Pearl;
and you'll find yourself wondering what to do next, nap, bowl a few games,
get a good workout or ...whatever.
|

Norwegian Pearl
Chances are you'll treasure everything about Norwegian Pearl.
She's brand new and full of exciting options, making your vacation just that
- yours. Onboard, you'll find 12 unique places to eat and 11 exciting bars
and lounges where you can just hang. There's even a bowling alley (a cruise
industry first!) and rock climbing wall onboard. Head out to Alaska or the
Caribbean and you'll choose from an impressive array of accommodations from
the ultra luxurious Garden and Courtyard Villas to family-friendly
connecting staterooms and suites. Finally, a vacation where you're free to
whatever. |

Seabourn Cruise Line
| Seabourn's world is
filled with fascinating sights you have always longed to see. It is alive
with people and places to come to know, and with memories to be cherished
forever. It is a world of experiences—some eagerly anticipated and others
delightfully unexpected. Your gracious gateway to this tantalizing world is
Seabourn yachting life.
Champagne on ice. Flowers in the sitting room. A spacious marble-clad bath
and walk-in closet. Measuring a generous 277 square feet or more, your
Seabourn Suite is the ideal haven. The sea is always on view, framed by the
expanse of a five-foot picture window, or (in many suites) the doors of your
balcony. Fine Egyptian cotton linens, a fluffy duvet and king-sized down and
feather pillows encourage the indulgence of afternoon naps.
Sunshine enters your suite each day, in the form of your
personal suite stewardess. Whether she draws the warm, scented bath of your
choice from our Pure Pampering menu or surprises you at night with a
sprinkling of rose petals on your bed, she helps to make wishes come true.
She’ll present your welcome tray of canapés and homemade cookies after a day
ashore. Keep your complimentary in-suite bar stocked according to your
preferences. Replenish your bowl of fresh fruit. And invite you to select
from an extensive roster of DVDs and CDs – including recent films and music
from classical to rock, or audio books by best-selling authors like Tom
Clancy and Dan Brown. (Enjoy them on your suite’s flat screen TV or Bose
Stereo/CD player.)
She'll also show you the cleverly-designed cocktail table
in the sitting room that converts to a dining table. At your request, it can
be beautifully set with a course-by-course dinner from The Restaurant.
Celebrating special occasions is a specialty of Seabourn yachting life.
From an intimate cocktail party to a bowl of popcorn for a private screening
on your DVD player, you have but to ask. |

Star
Clippers
| Kick off your shoes and get ready for adventure!
A cruise with Star Clippers will be something you will long remember. Imagine,
taking a cruise where dressing for dinner means T-shirts and shorts or
swimsuits! But, although the ships are sail, you will not have to
worry about roughing it as you will have an air conditioned cabin,
complete with modern amenities.
How does this sound for a typical day? Begin
with complimentary Bloody Mary's, fresh baked breads and pastries,
followed by a bountiful breakfast. Lunch is served on board or
picnic style on the beach. As evening begins to fall, toast the sunset
with rum swizzles and hors d'oeuvres. But be sure to save room for
a hearty dinner, complete with wine -- all on the house!
And then, if the night is still young! Put on your
best toga or pirate gear and get ready to party! And when we weigh
anchor, let our crew do all the work or take your turn at the helm and
learn the ropes. Do as little or as much as you like. You're off to
explore the Caribbean. Perfect for cruising in casual elegance. Our
itineraries range from the sun-kissed Mediterranean to the exotic Far
East and the Caribbean.
On
board you will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, friendly crew, and international
cuisine, all in pampered comfort. If you're a boating enthusiast, you can
choose to lend a hand hoisting the sails, you can climb the mast, or you can
just lay back and let the crew do all the work.

Life With Windjammer
Windjammer shipmates are a motley crew of interesting folks from all over
the U.S. and abroad. You won't know if the guy or gal sitting next to you is
the CEO of a Fortune 500 Company or an average "Joe." And the best part
is... no one cares. Once your ship sets sail, it's all about relaxing and
getting into the down-island groove. Any pretenses are quickly forgotten,
and a familiar sense of camaraderie soon develops among passengers.
Life Onboard
If you've never felt weathered teakwood beneath your bare feet, now's your
chance. Our spacious decks are a focal point of activity. It's where
ship-mates gather to lounge, sunbathe, read, socialize, dance and party from
sun-up to sundown. Above all, the atmosphere onboard is relaxed, casual and
comfortable - a place where you can let your hair down. At night, bring your
bedding to the top deck and sleep under the stars while the ship is under
sail. We guarantee you'll feel like a kid or a carefree pirate!
|
|
Life Ashore
We've been cruising "down island" for more than 50 years. Like the pirates
of yesteryear, we know all the right people in all the right places.
Windjammer's tour planners spend grueling hours researching and selecting
onshore excursions that are fun, authentic, and designed to put you face -
to - face with the local environment and culture. Each day, shipmates may be
offered a selection of 3-4 tours that range from mellow (snorkeling tours)
to active (hiking) to adrenaline-pumped (all-terrain vehicle jungle
adventures).
Dining
Dining aboard Windjammer is casual and relaxed. No tuxedos, ties or feather
boas required. Come in a bathing suit and t-shirt if you like- just bring an
appetite. Meals are social occasions for sharing stories and good food in
the company of interesting and friendly shipmates. The good thing is, you
can meet someone new at each meal as there are no fixed seating
arrangements. Shipmates are free to roam and sit with whomever.

Bring the Whole Family
Awesome! That’s the best way to describe the thrill of sailing on a tall
ship. The fun starts the moment you cross the gang plank. Hook-up with kids
and teens your own age as we raise the sails, catch a tradewind and head for
a week of adventure.
Trek
through the lush canopy of a natural rainforest. Buzz around on a jet ski or
snorkel coral reefs alive with colorful fish. Hike to the top of a waterfall
and plunge in for a cool swim. By the end of the cruise, you’re sure to have
a bunch of friends to add to your buddy list.
Kids as young as 6 are more
than welcome to sail with us year round. |

S. V. Legacy
This four-masted Barquentine, formerly the France II, was built in 1959 by
Forges et al Meditterranee of Le Havre, France and served as a
meteorological research vessel for the French Government. Acquired by
Windjammer in 1989, she was renovated with custom interiors, spacious
accommodations and state-of-the-art navigational systems. She blends
nautical tradition with modern comfort.
Redefining the concept of cruise line travel,
Windjammer Barefoot Cruise Lines specializes in intimate getaways where
passengers enjoy a private yacht atmosphere and the unique sensation of
unconditional freedom aboard a ship each passenger is free to think of as
his own. Friendships are forged and unforgettable memories are made aboard
the beautiful sailing ships of the Windjammer cruise line. A vacation aboard
the Windjammer S.V. Legacy is one not quickly forgotten.
The Windjammer S.V. Legacy sails throughout
the Caribbean, offering itineraries with service to the Bahamas, the
Virgin Islands, and St. Lucia and the Windwards. On four, five, and
seven-night itineraries to the Bahamas, the Windjammer Legacy stops in
Bimini, Gun Cay, the Berry Islands, Great Abaco, Freeport, and Nassau. The
cruise ship Legacy also offers seven-night itineraries to the Virgin
Islands with stops in St. Thomas, Water Island, Jost van Dyke, St. John,
Norman Island, Tortola, and Virgin Gorda. For cruises to St. Lucia and the

S.V. Legacy |
S.V. Mandalay
Queen of the fleet, this 236-foot Barquentine was built in 1923 for
financier E.F. Hutton and christened HUSSAR. In the 1930?s she was sold to
shipping magnate George Vettlesen who re-christened her VEMA. Later she was
put into service by Columbia University sailing over 1 1/4 million miles
worldwide. Evidence gathered on her voyages confirmed the theory of the
continental drift.
A Windjammer British Virgin
Islands Cruise involves life aboard the S.V. Mandalay vessel. Built in 1923
for financier E.F. Hutton and named HUSSAR, the S.V. Mandalay has truly had
a storied past. After beings sold in the 1930?s and renamed VEMA, this
nautical ship was not done moving about the seas and various owners.
Colombia University eventually came to own the ship and sailed it over one
million miles before Windjammer came into possession of it. With
accommodations for around 70 guests, the S.V. Mandalay takes the idea of
small-ship cruising to a whole new level. And despite its age, the S.V.
Mandalay remains in classy form in addition to being enhanced over the years
with renovations and improvements.
The S.V. Mandalay ship
requests a casual and relaxed atmosphere while aboard its decks. Guests do
not have to dress up when dining and are encouraged to sit wherever they
please. More importantly, Windjammer's onboard activities and entertainment
are centered on the main deck, where guests can even bring their bedding at
night and sleep under the stars. While sailing with older vessels,
Windjammer's fleet of ships often stirs feelings of adventure, romance and a
connection with nature via a much smaller and intimate setting.

S.V. Polynesia
Built in 1938, ARGUS was one of the last of the great Portuguese Grand Banks
fleet. This legendary 248-foot schooner was acquired by Windjammer in 1975
and christened POLYNESIA.
The featured in the May 1952
edition of National Geographic and the novel, "The Quest for the Schooner
Argus," by the late maritime writer, Allen Villers. Considered one of the
last of the great Portuguese Grand Banks fleet, the ship was acquired by
Windjammer in 1975 and is today operated by a 45-person crew and sails to a
host of spectacular tropical destinations.
The Windjammer Polynesia ship
sails throughout the Caribbean, offering itineraries with service to St.
Maarten and the Leeward Islands, and the ABC Islands. On 7-day itineraries
to St. Maarten and the Leeward Islands, the Windjammer S.V. Polynesia stops
in St. Maarten, St. Bart's, Anguilla, Tintamarre, Saba, St. Eustatius,
Nevis, and St. Kitts. For cruises to the ABC Islands, the Windjammer
Polynesia ship sails on 6-night itineraries with stops in Aruba, Bonaire,
Curacao, and Klein Curacao.
Life onboard the Windjammer Polynesia ship is
quite unlike what passengers might experience onboard any other cruise ship.
The Windjammer S.V. Polynesia is small in scale, allowing for constant
interaction between the crew and the passengers and creating a casual
atmosphere where friendships are readily forged. The deck is the hub of
social activity and shipmates gather there to chat, drink, and take in the
sun

|
S.V. Yankee Clipper
Built in 1927, CRESSIDA, was one of the only armor plated private yachts in
the world. Confiscated during World War II as a war prize, she was later
acquired by the Vanderbilts and renamed PIONEER. Racing off Newport Beach,
California, PIONEER was considered one of the fastest tall ships on the west
coast. In 1965, she joined the Windjammer fleet and was christened YANKEE
CLIPPER.
The deck is
the hub of social activity and shipmates gather there to chat, drink, and
take in the sun. Wander the ship and know that you are surrounded by
friends; Windjammer even encourages passengers to bring their bedding out to
the deck at night and enjoy the experience of sleeping under the stars. This
is the epitome of relaxation, where a halcyon existence awaits you aboard
the Windjammer S.V. Yankee Clipper.
The
Windjammer S.V. Yankee Clipper sails on 7-day itineraries through St.
